It’s probably legal for a foreign government to donate an airplane to the US. It’s probably not legal (under the emoluments clause) for a foreign government to donate a plane to the president. This deal seems deliberately structured to blur those lines. Will it successfully pass legal scrutiny? I don’t know. Neither do you.
