wow, this is ugly on so very many different levels...
my training said to give your patient, as close as you can, a blank canvas upon which they can project so you can reflect back to them meaningfully. my training said to work hard to keep as much of your own stuff out of the session as you can, which is why you are supposed to always have a supervisor, FFS.
who is the patient? psychotherapists do not treat societies, they treat individuals in societies.
