In many languages around the world, the word for a railway platform is “perron,” from the French word for “doorstep” … but not in French, which uses “quai” (quay/wharf), a word of Celtic origin.
And then there’s Japanese, which uses “hōmu,” a shortening of English “platform” but it sounds like English “home” because phonology.
