A thing to keep in mind when evaluating the latest fashions in tech is that two of the problems the aforementioned groups have is "how do we get people to pay for this thing?" and "how do we hire people already trained in our tech stack?" So a lot of tech, including open source (especially open source), is released in a way to entice you to sign up to add to revenue or released to get you to use it and train yourself and others.
