I recently stumbled upon an explanation by a pro photographer of why he doesn't shoot in RAW. Basically, as he shoots *hundreds* images a day, there's just no time for careful post-processing from the ground up. So instead he learned his cameras and lenses so well that he knows how to get what he wants straight out of camera.

It was a big insight for me, as I only shoot in RAW and ignore all the camera modes and film simulations. But then, I'm just an amateur.
