I'm realizing the only thing that saved me from creating a Facebook account early on was my taking the "friend" concept literally and getting stressed out about having it turned into an explicit binary. After all the other issues continued to come to light, it was easy to maintain not having an account, but that initial strong repulsion came from their "friend" concept. If it had been some other metaphor, I might've caved to peer pressure like anybody else. 😆
