Another good one, I'll add it to the wiki! Agree with all points, but a mild cautionary counterpoint here to this observation: "People are tired of Meta-Mastodon think-pieces and want action."

If you're detecting this, there may be a contradiction. Ever since news first broke of the Zuckerberg incursion, I've been posting on alternative organizational modeling which could serve as a bulwark against not only Meta, but other attempts at capitalist recuperation of the fediverse. Consistently, these posts "underperform" compared to those that are directly about the Meta disaster. It's true that they tend to be longer and more complex.

If we want to activate the fedi into real action, even at this point we've got an uphill push, because the seeming fact is that what many people want from social media is to hang out and shoot the shit, not engage a new form of prefigurative activism. I say this regretfully and with a dash of disillusion, because I've been trying to contribute to a such a catalyst on here and not getting much reciprocal energy back beyond a smattering of boosts. But circumstances are growing more urgent and we have to keep trying, because regardless of the exact details of the scheme, it's clear the fedi is in imminent danger as a community-owned and operated online space
