I never had a Mac or Apple back in the day. Wildly too expensive. I got by with hand-me-down or flea market C64 stuff, followed by flea market and aftermarket PC stuff, which still made me unbelievably wealthy as compared to most of the world. (My dad was a ham, so my dad knew many people with old computers.)
I continue the flea market mentality by buying refurbished computers and running 10yo rigs (like the one I'm typing this on) at home. So I guess it sticks with you.
