We have a baby monitor we no longer need. The monitor side had been flakey around the power. You had to have the appropriate tension and direction on the power chord to keep it on. I "solved it" by wrapping the power chord around the monitor.
My wife was going to throw it out. Which made decide to look at it. It ended up being the barrel jack. Surface mount with no other support. Added some solder and hot glue. I think it will last a while longer. Now we can give it away.
