According to general relativity, my car was simply following a geodesic in spacetime this morning, and the parking post rudely interrupted its natural motion. In fact, from the perspective of my car’s inertial frame, it was the post that accelerated into me!
Now, whether my insurance company accepts this relativistic argument is another question entirely…
