The Parascientific Escape trilogy is priced at $2 a piece on the 3DS eshop right now.
I've only played the first one but I remember it being a cute little room escape adventure game/VN. Less difficult/ambitious than stuff like 999 but def. in the same vein.
The store page shows the release dates but for future reference, the release order is:
