In Sw/Sh, the event raids often had raised shiny odds and were also (until the DLC) the only way to get Gigantamax pokemon. Gen 9: most event raids are against a super-strong enemy that you can catch only once. More fun but also little incentive to do more than 1 raid per event.
Also the event raids are almost always shiny locked and the shiny odds for regular raids are actually LOWER than on the overworld.
