You scramble eggs with your Diffie. The correct Hellman can unscramble the mess to get the eggs again. But there‘s more.
When you send me some prime eggs and a new Diffie, I‘ll also make a new Diffie and send that back to you. Now we can both use our new Hellman and the others Diffie to make a total mess of the eggs…but it will be the exact same mess for both of us. Which nobody else has.
