My dad gave me this wee barometer/altimeter, made about 1890. Took it out in the Mull hills yesterday - it's as accurate, and smaller, than mobile phone GPS 🀩 πŸ₯° . The longevity and reliability of this 130-year old technology seems inconcievable today. And no spurious precision! πŸ€“ #InstrumentationDoneRight #Altimeter #Barometer #Mull #Antique

On the left, the camera is looking down at a pink hand holding a small brass pocket barometer/altimeter in a small purple antique case. The needle on the dial is indicating a height of 600 feet. On the left, a different hand is holding a modern digital GPS which displays an altitude of "593.8 +- 14 feet".
