- A fancy hummingbird with a vividly fluorescent turquoise & green gorget (throat) and a snazzy purple crown sits in profile on a skinny vine to show off the length of its very long tail flowing and fluttering behind it. The two central tail feathers are just long straight ribbons but the two outer flowing tail feathers are much longer and curvier ribbons capped with broad oval pancake-flat feathers that flutter around like a pair of butterfly wings to draw attention away from the main hummingbird.
