This is exactly what happened to me in 2006, when I was 15, after Israel carpet-bombed south Beirut.
I remember that exact shape and color of the concrete, this exact aesthetic.
I climbed on top of the rubble and my mom was afraid I’d die from unexploded bombs.
I tried to recognize my neighborhood but couldn’t, and later realized I was actually standing on top of rubble very close to that my own building.
