I’ve been a part of a lot of communities online & in real life; have helped lead some too. It’s never failed that the ones that avoid hard conversations, that prop up privilege, that celebrate power, that cover up bad behavior, that asks abused to apologize to abuser for outing them publicly, let folks call marginalized folks assholes for standing up for themselves, etc etc end up failing to affect real change in the long run and perpetuate lots of harm instead.
