It's complete "Can you pet the dog" bait, but despite that my favorite little detail of this game is how the main character absolutely dotes on the two pets that are hanging around the home base.
There's a black cat that appears in a random location on each day and if you find and pet her three times, you get the achievement "Unrequited Love"
