Why you shouldn't use AI-derived "facts" for anything serious, part 5912.

The galactic coordinates of the Orion Nebula are l~209º, b~-19º.

That puts it in the third galactic quadrant: the four quadrants are l=0–90º, 90–180º, 180–270º, & 270–360º.

Wikipedia has this correct, & yet Google's AI, citing that very source, says "nope, it's in the second galactic quadrant."

Just imagine how many actually important things this software is fucking up daily with its fake authoritativeness 🙄

<4 Al Overview The Orion Nebula is not located in the third Galactic quad- rant; it's in the second Galactic quadrant, specifically within the Qrion Arm of our Milky Way galaxy. The Orion Nebulais = 4% - i situated towards the constellation Orion, which is part of ; the second quadrant (approximately 0-90 degrees longi- J — tude). The third Galactic quadrant (180-270 degrees longi- tude) contains constellations like Gemini, Cancer, and Leo. ¢ Here's why the Orion Nebula is not in the third quadrant: Constellation Location: The Orion Nebula is a component of the constellation Orion, and the constellations are grouped into Galactic quadrants. Galactic Quadrant Definitions: The Milky Way is divided into four quadrants based on Galactic longitude (I). The second quadrant ranges from O to 90 degrees, and the third quadrant from 180 to 270 degrees. @ Orion's Position: The constellation Orion is positioned in the second quadrant, closer to the direction of the Galactic center, not in the opposite direction where the third quadrant is located, according to Wikipedia. ¢ Warp in the Third Quadrant: Studies of the third Galactic quadrant have focused on the warping of the Galactic disk and the structure of the outer arm, which is distinct from the Orion Arm where the nebula is found, according to multiple academic sources.
