Visited Taos Pueblo yesterday and learned about the siege and ultimate destruction of the original church by the US Army in 1847 as part of their campaign to put down an uprising. The different stories told by the indigenous tour guide (and corroborated by local journalists - women and children massacred) compared to what appears on the Wikipedia page (150 “rebels” killed) is striking.
