In-app browsers can be used to bypass consumer choice, such as where a consumer has specifically selected a browser other than the pre-installed operating system browser (for example, when clicking on hyperlinks). In this context issues concerning choice architecture are also relevant, underlining the interconnectedness of various remedies. In—app browsers can also be used by native apps to undermine user privacy, for example collecting data without the consumer’s knowledge or consent.
