Open enrollment (for those of you living in civilized countries with universal health insurance this is the one time of the year, the month of November, when health insurance can be purchased or sold) is a few days away and a person we know who works for the Berkeley Unified School District and has a union-negotiated contract just found out their health care insurance for their family of three will rise 30% to 1450 per month.
