I think it's all but a certainty that in our lifetimes we see a politically viable candidate who runs on outlawing local computation.
All it takes is one t*rrorist attack that uses AI; one photo of a brown guy next to a group of daisy chained Mac Minis, for the US media to run wild with the narrative— should everyday Americans have powerful computers with local computation?
