@dizzy There's an impact to effective moderation, too, and its burden on users. Say you have a 1000-user instance. With the current system 10 users flag a problem instance. The admin looks, realises it's full of abuse, and blocks it. 990 users don't need to waste their time with that.
Under the pro-Meta talking point system, a harmful instance can still keep reaching users until all 1,000 of them encounter harmful content themselves and block it. And even when they do, the admin doesn't know.
