An electric guitar is perhaps the quintessential Twentieth Century object.
Such a combination of woodworking, analog electronics, iconic mid-century industrial design, not to mention its cultural impact. It was all very earth-shaking at a time, and now it has this vintage quality to it.

- one of the two most iconic guitar designs: the Gibson Les Paul. Named after jazz musician Les Paul, who is remembered by his musical and technological innovations and for his TV show with Mary Ford. Les was a pioneer of multitrack recording and his prototype "log" guitar gave rise to the solid-body electric guitar, in which the thin body relies purely on the electronics to produce sound, doing away with the thick resonance box a with hole, typical of an acoustic guitar.
