It's actually worse for competition that Google and Apple are cutting dirty side deals with publishers big enough to shake them down, as it hurts the chances of their competitors.
The anti-choice architecture of app stores is indefensible in a world where safe browsers can deliver the same services; no wonder Apple and Play have worked so hard to prevent that.
