amateur radio operators the world over use "Q-signs", three letter groupings starting with a Q, to say common things ("QRZ" means "Who is calling me?", for example). these are left over from the days when most traffic was CW ("Morse Code"), with a nice rhythm to the leading Q. these "pro-signs" are also often used in RTTY & other digital modes as well as voice, for the sake of brevity.
NATO also uses a set of "Z-signs", my current favorite of which is:
