Spent some time working on the 1950's Advance B4A5 Signal Generator. To be honest , there's not much to recommend it apart from that beautiful black crack finish. And that's why its still on the bench.
Replaced a bunch of resistors that had drifted high , the 6X5 rectifier popped while I was working on it - Cathode to Heater short.
The electoro was completely missing the +ve lead - probably since the mid '70s!
I gutted the can and put a modern electro inside.

Advance B4A5 in all its black crackle paint glory! A round meter at top left , a frequency dial with multiple scale at top right and a selection of control knobs underneath.
Selection of 70ish year old electronic components removed from the sig gen. 8 x 1/4 watt resistors, 1 1/2 Watt resistor, two disgusting looking 0.5uF sealed paper caps, a 6X5 rectifier and a 6J6 twin triode.
Ancient Hunt 8uF electrolytic capacitor with +ve lead corroded away.
