I am largely convinced that every time JD Vance is talking, the Trump campaign is actively losing votes. Here's a clip originally posted on Twitter (aka Daily Stormer the Social Media site) in which Vance essentially proposes rigging elections for parents who have a lot of children.
“Let’s give votes to all children in this country, but let’s give control over those votes to the parents of those children.”
Vance goes on to frame this as a "skin the game" argument based around what you have invested in the future of America; notably however, he doesn't argue that young people should get more votes, or that your vote should somehow count less if you are unlikely to live long enough to see "the consequences."
This is pretty much Vance's specialty, twisting vaguely "populist" sounding arguments into something that pushes planks of the reactionary, fascist agenda - in this case the argument that because children are our future, young people should be involved in our political process, is mangled into a reactionary "stakeholders" should have more political power argument, with a little bit of encouragement to have more babies, to obtain more political power. Which ties in quite nicely with nazi obsessions about the declining birthrate of white Americans, and the demographic realities that cracker Christians typically have much larger families than urban liberals. Throw in a little bit of racialized voter suppression and you're more or less talking about rigging US politics for fascists here.
Vance's ideas are deeply unserious, but his reasons for sharing them are invariably rooted in reactionary political agendas.
