October 18, 1956 in Los Angeles, the Bobby Timmons Trio (with Bobby on piano, Peter Littman on drums, and James Bond on bass) recorded Bobby's arrangement of "Autumn in New York" in a take that came in at two minutes and eight seconds, and I am convinced that it is the most perfect arrangement of the song that I can imagine. I swear those three cats fit a good five minutes of music into that 2:08 without making it feel cramped or rushed. a gift to us all.
