This story is mind-blowing.

For years state patrol scientists cooked meth, leaving residue on ceiling, walls & floor.

Then they left—and toxicology moved in, and began testing blood samples in thousands of criminal cases.

Guess what happened.

Hmm, it seems the more accurate framing of the above thread is around what numetal was at Woodstock 99 and/or focused on aggression.

There are a lot more bands recognized in the genre than I realized, which is a reminder that nothing about people, culture, etc. is a monolith.

Many of the other acts who played Woodstock 99 are among my favorite of the era, and their songs stay in my rotation.

Linkin Park is probably the only nu metal left in my library, and only sparingly. The rest of it drags me back to a bad time.

Vividly, because yay flashbacks~

Nu metal and heavy metal gave me at least one outlet to vent the anger I had at my abusers and bullies, and it made them think I was masculine and straight enough.

They still bullied me for being an awkward nerd, but at least they weren't being me for being a faggot.

Twitter Feed

@Maryxus ("Maryxus Maddly") replied to a tweet by @Maryxus:

I guess it's no wonder I left these songs behind. I hadn't thought about them in years, and the reminiscence is not fond.

I couldn't recall what most of the tracks even sounded like before hearing them again in this documentary, and some them were my favorites in that moment.

@Maryxus ("Maryxus Maddly") replied to a tweet by @Maryxus:

I thought I'd grown out of liking Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock and the bands like them because I was no longer in an environment where I needed that to channel my anger so aggressively.

But now I'm wondering if liking them at all was just another way to survive.
