Aww, @Ceph seemed so happy about the design of their "v2" format with tags & length prefixes, but then they went and wrote a bespoke encoder/decoder and one tag ('p') is a byte too long over length due to a bug.
Guess I'm the first alternate implementation, eh? Yay me.
