I've talked about this in the past. Part of privilege is when you get to ask others to care about your crisis while you don't have to care about theirs.

Every problem Whiteness suffers, the rest of us suffer as well. Their mass shootings, we also die. They take down the economy, we lose jobs first. Their opioid crisis is also our opioid crisis.
But they get to examine our problems dispassionately and say "I'm not convinced".
