Correct. A cynical person might say Linus developed git so it was easier for every change to Linux to be gated on him personally. I’m not saying that. I’m saying that’s what somebody might say if they were a cynical person.

@polotek Git grew out of the contributor-hostile Linux community. They *still* use emailed patch files, and Windows support is a separate project.
Not only is GitHub the reason Git won, it arguably won *despite* Git itself.
