People talk about how the Fediverse is still up while FB is down, but if your own instance is down, the impact on you is about the same as if the entire Fediverse were down. I wonder what fraction of Fedi users are on instances that are more reliable than Facebook? Probably not many, even counting today's outage.

What I especially like about Pandora papers revelations is that citizens of "enlightened democracies" can see their elected leaders listed right next to those whose countries they are used to condescendingly call "developing", "authoritarian regimes", "third world" and "banana republics". A good humiliating moment to start unlearning the "at least we're better than them" mentality.
