Just stumbled upon an excellent example of #Python not living up to its "one obvious way to do it" maxima:

- os.listdir
- os.scandir
- os.walk
- Path.glob

So I guess Pythonistas don't have the right to laugh at #Rust for having 4 ways to convert a string slice to a string.

Next time you go home to visit family, budget time to pull out some old photo albums together. It’s a great way to hear a lot of old stories.

“By the end of summer, vicious anti-Clinton social-media operations were intensifying, not only by the Trump campaign and its American allies but also by Russian trolls posing as Americans, who spread a raft of conspiracy theories about Clinton’s health and alleged criminality. The operations included the states that Manafort had identified as key, investigators found.”

‘Putin’s American adventure might be best understood as advance payment for a geopolitical grail closer to home: a vassal Ukrainian state. Thrumming beneath the whole election saga was another story — about Ukraine’s efforts to establish a modern democracy and, as a result, its position as a hot zone of the new Cold War between Russia and the West, autocracy and democracy’

I'm probably looking at this in the simplest most literal way possible, but you know that aphorism[1], "I'm a human *being*, not a human doing"? That's never resonated with me as I seem to be happiest when I'm doing things, especially things I want to do.

[1] Widely attributed to Kurt Vonnegut on the internet, but I don't trust that as I haven't tracked down the source.

Had a good night out in London, went to a drag burlesque, had drinks and chats with friends, made a tuk tuk driver blast Cannibal Corpse as he took us back to the hotel.

Big W this morning: the hotel had a pool, swam for the first time in over a year, first time wearing a swimsuit. There was a sauna too which I’ve missed. Fantastic day.

This is a terrific song, but I was on the fence about including it on this list. But the video is just a blast and ultimately the song feels joyous, "... I just got to put these wings to test."
