The billionaire Sackler Family and Purdue Pharma will pay $6B & serve 0 prison for knowingly selling horrendous amounts of OxyContin while claiming it was non-addictive—resulting in 564K+ American deaths by Opioid overdose.😓 And that doesn’t even begin to contemplate the global harm and deaths the Sackler family caused.
And for all that suffering and atrocity—not one person will go to prison. Not one.

The #Bible has been removed from libraries in Utah after a parent used a new law that permits the removal of "pornographic".
The parent argued that the Bible contained topics such as incest, bestiality, genital mutilation, and infanticide, making it pornographic under the new definition set forth in Utah Code Ann. § 76-10-1227.
A GOP lawmaker expressed "sadness" regarding the situation.

A couple of weeks ago, Scarlet/Violet had a bugged event raid that was dropping Null items, so after a few hours they CANCELLED that weekend's raid and they still haven't brought them back. Previously there had been a special raid event every weekend, starting a week after launch. They had a similar thing going with Sword/Shield, though at a slower pace.

Fun fact: Shibuya is at the bottom of a valley (second character in 渋谷) and so is naturally vulnerable; it just has really good flood management.

If not, making yet more mission-critical functionality dependent on a platform that tends to degrade performance, accessibility, and adherence to standards, feels like a *really* bad strategy

Using shortwave signals, the antennas become bigger but these signals will be bent (refracted) by the ionosphere layers and then return to earth. This can happen several times. There is loss with each bounce (like a dirty mirror) but enough signal for very comfortable chatting to the other side of the planet *sometimes:* it's greatly affected by the sun. There will be a delay but I've never noticed it, especially as one person talks, then the other. More see https://www.radio-workshop.co.uk/g4nsj-hf-propagation-the-ionosphere #hamradio

I interviewed Michelle Yeoh a few years ago about #StarTrekDiscovery and I mentioned offhand that I'd written an article about what seeing her use her accent on the bridge of a starship meant to me.

I can't think about it without crying.
