Someone just said "About time."

Nope. This was incredibly speedy for an investigation this complex and a crime this multi-faceted.

The Georgia probe was a fraction the size and this moved faster (and Fani Willis was appointed a month before Garland.)

Willis has fewer resources, of course, but the DOJ lawyers have been strained to the breaking point.

💥BREAKING NEWS 💥

Special counsel informs Donald J. Trump he is target in 2020 election probe

Trump will have the opportunity to plead his case in front of the federal grand jury - he won't because lying to a grand jury is a FELONY!

The Trump indictment will then follow shortly thereafter!

The last thing I want is for someone to trust a Pixelfed server only for the admin to take advantage of the trust and read their DMs for example.

Even though I trust our admins and believe none of them would do that, just the possibility makes me uneasy.

If you live in a colored area on the map pay attention to your local meteorologists and your weather apps. Have ways to be updated on the weather situation in your area. Be prepared. Have a plan for severe weather.

Last Friday was our monthly pen and paper evening again and I finally had the time to participate. That's my shortand for the organizing principle we most need from journalists covering the 2024 election. Not who has what chances of winning, but the consequences for our democracy. Not the odds, but the stakes.

Today the New York Times published an example of stakes reporting:

"Trump and his allies are planning a sweeping expansion of presidential power over the machinery of government...."

Had missed this post about Next.js, but love it so much:

I did a very similar thing back in 2018 when I was first "California Asked" (when someone tells you they're doing something in the form of a question) if it was a good idea to invest browser team resources in Next (obvs, lol, no).

My spreadsheet was even more brutal because computers were 4 years slower. Maybe by 2030 computers will be fast enough to suffer Next.js?

I live in hope.
