The Apple location in #SanDiego isn’t going away. But they intentionally forced 121 people to choose between moving to #Austin, or lose their jobs. Make no mistake, this is a layoff.
Never mind the fact that #Texas is hostile to anyone with a uterus, or is not cishet—why the hell anyone would move *to* that state? If anything, Apple should be shutting down their Austin office, and paying for people to relocate to a state that better ensures their safety.

I'm glad Apple now cares about browser parity and all, but every experienced frontend developer on the planet is walking around with the knowledge that transparent colors are a huge footgun because there's only one way to do them that works in Safari, even though they work perfectly everywhere else, and I would just have a little more faith in the sincerity of that initiative if they would just fix that massive hole that's always existed in their browser.

I think we need to really fight to keep certain terms strictly defined right now because bigtech is using any and every buzzword to incept corporate concepts into FOSS stuff that becomes useless to us if they get infected by such inane development pressures and inevitably go extinct
