Keep your desk clean, people. Been fighting for hours with my mechanical keyboard which was sending weird characters to my computer and I could not stop it. Unplug, reset, plug in, nothing helped.

Yeah. My old bluetooth keyboard was hidden under a book on my desk. It was still charged. The book pressed on the TAB key.

Hrmpf. :)

Statement from Albert Sellars LLP on Trump’s Executive Order "Preventing Abuses of the Legal System and the Federal Court" Fuck that fascist nonsense. Albert Sellars logo: the word Albert with an x where the upper right stroke is left as a dot, followed by the word Sellars in a san serif font.

@jwz The stats we collect for the #SpamAssassin project (mass-scan results from participating sites) have long shown that spammers are more consistent at making SPF, DKIM, and DMARC correct than are legitimate senders. DMARC in particular has no discernible benefit for most senders, so it is a useless signal.

Rejecting mail based solely on authentication failures of those deeply flawed authentication methods does more harm than good.

Taking a stroll through my spam folder, I saw a bunch of legitimate messages from people and companies with their own domains, that are not publishing DMARC and SPF records. Surely everyone (and by everyone I mean Google) is rejecting their mail? How do they not realize this?

Then I noticed that one of them was received *from* gmail, so their mail probably works fine so long as they only mail gmail users. But another was via Yahoo, so that doesn't track.

Idk man maybe it should just be illegal to sell genetic data in bankruptcy court? Or it should require stringent oversight and regulation?

"What about the *research* funding?"

I mean what about it? Do you know what we called German doctors and scientists who submitted to and worked with the Nazi regime to do science/medicine? Nazis.

If the cost of your research is "I have to help fascists do fascism" then maybe you should look for another job because I can assure you, if we survive this, nobody is gonna say "oh we totally understand that you just did Nazism to keep funding your experiments." They're gonna say "you helped Nazis."

One thing I'm noticing that people are not understanding, that they really need to understand here:

Trump is not threatening to jail or deport anyone running these big law firms and prestigious universities. He's threatening them with funding cuts, lack of access to federal contracts, and harassment investigations.

So when they agree to collaborate with him, they're saying "there is a monetary cost above which we don't believe in anything and will gladly help install fascism to avoid."
