I am going to make a thread that I can just link when people tell me about moving to Canada for science :)

- half my family emigrated to Canada. WITH A FACULTY JOB. You think this was just an easy walk in the park? It was financially precarious and many years of work and leaving behind an entire life (obviously)

- Canadian science literally relies on NIH funding too. Take a look at how many NIH dollars had Canadian faculty & institutions involved

When the “god father of AI” Geoffrey Hinton, or the leader of the #Rationalist movement Eliezer Yudkowsky, or the CEO of #OpenAI Sam Altman, or even Hank Green tell you that corporations have invented an AI God and you should be worried about the AI Apocalypse, it's to distract us from stories like this:

There is only one reason why both Russia and the US under Trump are chomping at the bit to break the EU apart and that is because, together, we are a significant threat to their corrupt version of a world order.

Parties in Europe clamouring to help Russia and the US succeed are, quite frankly, traitors to their own states.

Whether they’re doing it for ideological or financial reasons (probably for both), they are knowingly placing their own citizens in a position of subordination.

An isometric illustration shows a maze-like architectural structure made of pale stone, with multiple staircases, platforms, and archways arranged in an Escher-like, impossible layout. The walls and steps are textured with a speckled pattern, giving the scene a surreal, dreamlike quality. Soft beige and gray tones dominate the image, highlighting the geometric forms and disorienting spatial logic.
