My 20+ year old furnace decided to suddenly die in the middle of December, so I had to make some spur of the moment decisions. So we're getting a heat pump tomorrow. I didn't plan on spending that much money on upgrading my HVAC system, but sometimes life just plans for you.

We already have an incredible General Intelligence with untapped potential: humanity, and the social structures that let humanity work together to study and solve problems.

AGI is variously a distraction or a slavery-fantasy. There is no merit to it in current form.
