I'll go further: If your code makes use of "AI" code generators, you shouldn't be describing it as "open source". There are source-available game mods of Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time based on code stolen from Nintendo by hackers. These aren't really "open source".

OSS/Libre/Free Software is a project to build a commons based on consensual collaboration. You can't claim those labels when your project has, via "AI" scraping, contributors who are unknown, uncredited, and unconsenting.

Imma stop you right there. Jonathan Ross, the man who murdered Renee Good by shooting her in the face three times and then calling her a "fucking bitch" while fleeing the scene, is a 10 year DHS vet and a firearms instructor. He's who they get training FROM.

This can't be fixed with training. This gets fixed with lasting and severe consequences.

Governments are being pressured to ban carbon-intensive luxury items and tax fossil fuel profits to meet climate targets.

The super-rich are fuelling the climate crisis with “gross carbon recklessness” as calls for an increased wealth tax grow louder.

Recently, the application of AI tools to Erdos problems passed a milestone: an Erdos problem (#728 https://www.erdosproblems.com/728) was solved more or less autonomously by AI (after some feedback from an initial attempt), in the spirit of the problem (as reconstructed by the Erdos problem website community), with the result (to the best of our knowledge) not replicated in existing literature (although similar results proven by similar methods were located).

This is a demonstration of the genuine increase in capability of these tools in recent months, and is largely consistent with other recent demonstrations of AI using existing methods to resolve Erdos problems, although in most previous cases a solution to these problems was later located in the literature, as discussed in https://mathstodon.xyz/deck/@tao/115788262274999408 . This particular case was unusual in that the problem as stated by Erdos was misformulated, with a reconstruction of the problem in the intended spirit only obtained in the last few months, which helps explain the lack of prior literature on the problem. However, I would like to talk here about another aspect of the story which I find more interesting than the solution itself, which is the emerging AI-powered capability to rapidly write and rewrite expositions of the solution. Also be very careful carrying the same device alongside your normal phone when not at protests.

Cops the world over often routinely deploy stingrays and their modern LTE equivalents in big towns and cities even when there aren't protests, as they are looking for this "unusual" behaviour to track down suspected drugdealers (who often use the same tactics of carrying multiple devices)

‘Dueling Banjos’
A silly thing I painted 11 years ago and apparently haven’t posted here before

A watercolor painting meant to evoke the look of a Japanese woodblock print. A samurai wearing a blue and gray kimono and hakama is leaping in the air holding a banjo by the neck like a sword over his head. He’s about to bring it smashing down on a second samurai on the ground in kimono and hakama patterned in yellow, orange and red who holds a banjo in a low position at his waist. The background is a small hill with a tree on it with water and mountains in the distance.
