Jeff Bezos went on TV to whine about Zohran Mamdani to stop demonizing billionaires and the very next day Mayor Mamdani responded by forcing Amazon to pay $9M in fines accrued by Amazon delivery trucks for illegally idling and blocking NYC traffic.
This is what happens when you elect a mayor for the people, not the corporations. We need more of this.

So I finally did it. I bought two phone numbers. One for personal use, the other for the internet. Both were landlines so no SMS spam (hopefully). I bought a cheap phone plan ($10/m) on my old iPhone that I will use exclusively for platforms.
I also ditched my old company domain and with my new domain I created a small collection of addresses. My personal work address not associated with any platforms. And a few for specific platforms, plus one generic address for everything else.

@aredridel Thanks! :D Search engines come to mind. With ads, they create these 3-way markets. If labs were to build proper data markets, paying creators for inclusion of their outputs in the training set, then the extraction problem goes away.
Social media is maybe another such form of mediation, where companies want to claim ownership when it comes to profits and IP, but want to treat platforms/models as autonomous when it comes to liabilities (e.g., leading users to self-harm).

🚨 Let's try some activism on fedi! The Tigard Public Library needs your help! CoT slashed the library budget, including cutting vital social services. But voters killed the new new Police / Public Works building they wanted to build, so now there are unallocated funds. There's community organizing and a petition to demand that CoT restore library services with that money. Many more specifics in the link 👇
