Finally got a small feature in place that’s been requested for a while: you can now gift a year or more of membership to any omg.lol member! 🎁
To do it, visit https://home.omg.lol/gift-time. You can also find a button for gifting time at the bottom of any address lookup (using the address lookup page at https://home.omg.lol/lookup).
All gifts are totally anonymous. If you want to tell the recipient about it, go for it! Otherwise, it’ll just be a mysterious surprise.

Yes: look to •systems•, not just individuals! And if you're looking at individuals, ask •which ones•.
Yes, we should all take what individual action we can take. Yes, we all share responsibility. But there are in fact specific people to blame — and yet it is not those specific ultra-wealthy people but rather the poorest, people who've individually done the least among us to destroy the climate, who will pay the greatest cost for the damage humans have caused.

It's worth reiterating, always worth reiterating:
In this situation, the LLM does not in any sense •understand• why it did what it did, and its response is not in any way an explanation or a window into how it works. Its response is not even based on whatever underlying mechanism made it start responding in a different language. Really, it's not!
Its response is a generic response to being asked “Why did you switch to a different language?,” generated from answers people typically gave to similar questions in the training dataset. That's why it answers with a stereotype about Hindi.
It's roughly the same process as a kid making up an excuse when confronted about some impulsive thing they did. First comes the action, then comes the question, then they look at the question and try to generate a reasonable-sounding response.
