A thread.

We cannot just say “AI is wrong” but ask why it is appealing? How is it solving a real/perceived problem, and what are we proposing as an alternative? A legitimate alternative.

AI is appealing here, at least partially, because our health care system is fundamentally broken and unsupportive of individuals. Many doctors would like to be more involved but effectively are punished financially if they do much as try.

And I’ve also had plenty of medical individuals who exhibit near zero level of empathy. Like the pediatric surgeon who didn’t understand why I cared about service industry workers.

You cannot just say “no” but have to engage, understand, and help create alternatives.

I don’t have answers here.

And I see patients using AI to better understand their condition as failure of a system. A doctor using an LLM to do their job, say, diagnose, is a failure of the individual.

The average U.S. home has appreciated by over $100,000 since 2020, reflecting the broader inflationary environment across fiat-denominated assets. However, when priced in bitcoin, the average home has declined significantly in value, becoming approximately 10 times less expensive over the same period. This divergence raises a key question: Is housing becoming more expensive, or is the purchasing power of fiat currency steadily eroding?
Chart showing average home prices in dollars from 2020–2026 (rising about $100k over that period), and on the second axis the price in bitcoin (dropping by about 50BTC)

From my reading: Wear an N95 and start having sit-ins at MPs offices. The advice from France is don't do it one time but continue to show up every day or week along with physical mails and phone zaps. You can ask for a physical or zoom meeting with your MP. Doing your homework before to present your evidence-backed concerns in a calm manner is the goal. But this would take organization within each riding and a critical mass of people willing to do this on a rotating basis to give each other a break. You'd have to be prepared to face police etc. as in Britain. There are templates from Minneapolis, Britain and other countries on how to do this while trying to protect physical safety.
Whether enough Canadians are willing to do this in a united front is the question. Vancouver is trying to start organizing against data centres, towns across the U.S. are organizing against municipalities to block data centres in their area. There are many small groups like Water Watchers, Clean Air Alliance, Dogwood, Canada Health Coalition, Council of Canadians and so many more doing activist work, all needing donations and support but acting separately. Just some of my thoughts....

My effing gods I am always ranting about this. I am not "economically viable" by the current ridiculous standards of our capitalist hellscape but I am capable, competent, creative and hella motivated. If we were given a chance to contribute in a meaningful way outside of scraping by with whatever we can manage we would be an incredible asset to society. Every single disabled person I know has so much to give to society but it repeatedly blocked and denied access. 😩
