Why are US sitcomes better than UK ones? Why did Drew give The Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion only a 6 out of 10?

prototyping out a 6m amateur band quad loop antenna spreader system, made out of PVC parts. I will glue it up tomorrow.

the screw-together arms mean (a) it breaks down to manageable sized pieces for transport in an automobile trunk to a field site, and (b) I can extend the arms by screwing in more sections & thus try to use the same spreader-center piece for building antennas for other bands.

we shall see

Hell, my local country fair (y’know, the place where you can submit your veggies to go on display and get judged and get ribbons and shit) is requiring online registration.

Guess how many people that’s locking out? How many of the people whose submissions are what keep the exhibitions going don’t have emails or cell phones?

If your solution doesn’t work for my friend who can only be reached via landline phone or mail, it doesn’t work.

seananmcguire Reblogged tumblr glorious-spoon spent forty-five minutes today helping an 87 yo woman who does not own a computer or a cell phone try to set up an email account so that she could then set up a second account in order to access benefits. went with protonmail, because they don't require 2fa, but it turns out that while you can still make a protonmail account without authentication you can no longer use it to create OTHER accounts without it, and the benefits page she needed to get to required both an email and a cell phone to create an account anyway. asked if she wanted to try going in person to see if someone there could help her, and she said that she had, and they'd directed her to the website. she tried signing up with her landline, but of course that didn't work because you can't do SMS authentication that way. finally ended up writing up detailed instructions for how to log in and authenticate her account so she can drive to her severely disabled daughter's house forty minutes away because that's the only person she knows and trusts who has both a cell phone and a computer. anyway i fucking hate mandatory 2ta and i think the people responsible for it should have to spend a year navigating their lives with no cell phone and no internet access beyond the public library pcs. fuck. 4 2,835 4,096

An email exchange between Andre Hamra and David Celis ANDRE HAMRA: Hi David, Andre here – Stanford MBA'24, Forbes Under 30, and founder of Refer. Not sure if you saw on Business Insider this week, but we just raised $10M for the crazy idea of making recruiting free for companies and built around the candidate instead. Do you happen to be hiring for Freshworks? Or planning your next move? If yes I’m happy to share more. DAVID CELIS: No thanks, Andre. I think it shows a distinct lack of empathy to be running a recruiting platform where people who need work and who may already be unemployed are forced to pay for the “privilege” of getting hired, especially in the current job market. It's should be so obvious that companies who actually have the cash to hire should be the ones paying for candidate placement that this comes off as ludicrously out of touch and the fact that you’ve been able to secure $10M in funding only further entrenches my belief that this industry is run by absolute sociopaths who only care about sucking the working class dry. I truly hope your company crashes and burns.
