how bad is the filesystem situation on netbsd? well the default filesystem is UFS and i managed to corrupt it trying to get a VM going on my local machine for building and running tests on netbsd..

honestly at this point, i'm disinclined to trust anyone who has been infected with AI thinking. i just do not trust their engineering ability.

so for the long term, it would honestly be better if we had an OS that was written by people who reject it outright. just because those people would make better engineering decisions.

and our best hope is.... netbsd. which might be fine if it had a good filesystem option.

so word on the street is that freebsd is not making progress on an anti-ai stance and in fact there are loud voices in favour of sloppity slop slop.

i hate this. i want to fork it but i just do not have the time to maintain an OS again.

you know, if you’re considering rolling back your anti-AI policy because a bunch of people are crybullying each other over “AI witch hunts” and getting caught trying to pass off slop as their own work, your development community might have deeper problems that taking a centrist position on AI will almost definitely make much worse

I've seen several industry thinkers I used to respect churning out essays and LinkedIn posts that should definitely have their AI tool of choice credited as a co-author. It's so disappointing. #cmonson

This isn't a "good" photo, but I wanted to share this funny interaction I witnessed between members of a crow family I've been seeing often nearby. An adult with a cracker they'd found and a juvenile (identifiable as such by their blue eyes) hopping close to them and staring longingly at the food. The adult was not inclined to share, however. #birding #corvids

An adult American crow perched on a fence, a cracker in their beak, while beside them on the fence a juvenile crow leans towards them, a hopeful note to their expression.
