Also just as a PS, it's neither possible nor very adaptive to ask yourself to have an overwhelmingly detailed explanation of mechanisms for everything you encounter, so that's not the goal. Groups of people need to fluently work at many different levels of abstraction.

The key is matching the level of understanding to the tasks and problems that we have! And often, coordinating different depths of expertise!

But we can benefit from having metacognitive skills!

I have to say... I am so proud of Canada. Carney's speech on Middle Powers and essentially predatory hegemony was a history defining moment. The people known for being nice were betrayed by the geopolitical equivalent of family. In the face of struggle, they found resilience in national pride. It breaks my heart too. Most Americans don't want this. To me, Canada has been our closest ally. Our cherished friend.

In the polls, Canada is destroying Trump. Around 80% of Americans have a positive view of Canada, going as high as 87%, while Trump's approval is drum roll 38.1% as of today. Another case where the will of the people is not reflected by the actions of the government.

If you are an unfeeling person, not persuaded by opinion, empathy, or feelings... we (the US) have a massive strategic advantage of being surrounded by only friendly countries who have become part of a deeply interconnected economy and culture. Literally our top two trading partners. Being huge jerks to them is profoundly harmful to our national security, to our soft power, to our economy, and to our people. Call your representatives. Let your voices be heard.

To Canadians: keep fighting the good fight.

Help!
As some are aware, I'm going to university in a couple of weeks. I'm trying to do some studying exercises, but being an older #actuallyautistic student in his 40s, I'm having some trouble retaining what I'm trying to learn. I've found that I learn through application or listening / reading certain ideas and facts for months over and over again, but that doesn't work well if I'm studying for exams.

If you are autistic and are doing well in uni or graduated, what note-taking (I'm using Obsidian and kinda hate it), flashcard (I'm using Anki and kind of meh on it), or studying techniques should I use while avoiding distraction and burnout?
Also looking for note-taking / studying / learning resources, books, tutorials etc.
