today is Labor Day in these somewhat disunited States, and I want to take a moment to remind folks what my Grandfather Klein said to a Union gathering in 1918:

“… in this story you have a history of this entire movement. First they ignore you. Then they ridicule you. And then they attack you and want to burn you. And then they build monuments to you.”

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas%5FKlein#Address%5Fto%5Fthe%5FClothing%5FWorkers

the Unionization movement made this country strong and prosperous, and we should take a moment to remember that, in between our beers and our burgers.

the rapacious rich got us into our current mess, and only mass organizing will get us out of it again.

I just started listening to this episode of #DotSocial. @pj says quite nice things about me and @cwebber .

I'm disappointed to hear that the interviews we did won't end up on an episode of #SearchEngine though. I thought they were very interesting and I'd really love to hear what Christine had to say.

Stop Cop City @JoshuaPHilll Reminder this Labor Day that unions didn't win weekends and the minimum wage and an end to child labor and sick leave and more by being nice, or polite, or respectful. They won by fighting. They won by striking and struggling and being radicals.

as you can see it's considerably simpler than a finger tree, having only two types. it's asymptotically terrible compared to the finger tree, because at each level it's only branching up to 8 ways. it's also much simpler - a uniform type with no tedium about depth. but i don't really care about the asymptotics for large lists, i want to skip over some items in a smallish list faster. and this scheme is simple enough i have a hope of doing a dependent version.

In July, another federal judge found that the parties had never truly been in conflict and Trump’s $10bn lawsuit against the IRS had only ever been a pretense for setting up the fund.

VBNMW was never about the implication of its catchphrase. It was a way to push conservatives into Democrat-held seats so that nothing ever gets done.

In the UK and Europe they're selling a release for Octoberish?

And you can still rent it online, see link. I recommend it wholeheartedly, and not just cos i'm in it.
